Kim Yonn

Okay I figured I would let everyone know how everything went with the birth of our sweet Kim Yonn. We went into the hospital around 8am. Was checked right in and started going through the process of getting ready for the surgery. I was feeling nervous about the whole spinal block part ( just because of my prior surgery with Alma, I was yelled at). Anyway my nurses were great! We had a hard time getting an IV to start though. They ended up trying 5 times to get one started. On the 5th time, the 3rd nurse got it her first try. I was very thankful at that time since I started feeling like a pin cushion. So once we had that going things were looking great. I went into the or and was getting my spinal block which went great! They got it the first try!!! Happy Day! I was so giddy when Lim came in because they got it the first try! No worries there. They started cutting and things were going good then I started to feel sick. I found out that they gave me morphine! NOT A GOOD ACTIVITY! I had it with Alma and I couldn't stop throwing up. I guess I am technically not allergic but close enough, to the point that my doctor tells me to say that I am. So that no one will ever give it to me again! (I'll explain more later) So I start to throw up during the surgery (another fear that I had) but it went just fine. The doctors stopped and waited while I was given anti-nausea meds to help. One thing about a spinal block once it is in, it is in your system for 10 to 18 hours! Good times.... We were planning on Lim staying for the whole c-section. Shortly after Kim Yonn (also known as Kimmie)was born they asked Lim if he would like to go with baby to the nursery. We kind of looked at each other and just didn't think much of it at the time. I told him I would be fine and he left with her. I was still sick at this time the anti nausea meds were not working. They ended up putting me to sleep! ( Another fear I had but it wasn't bad at all) I remember hearing the surgeon asking my doctor how things were going and I heard her reply better but not good. That is when they gave me the meds to put me to knock me out. I guess what happened is that I was losing a lot of blood and my uterus was not contracting down! My doctor physically took my uterus out of my body and was trying to contract it down with her own hands! I was still losing blood and trying to save me from having a hysterectomy they start potocin to see if that would get things going as a last chance kind of thing. I am grateful that they did because it worked! Yay!!! I did end up loosing a liter of blood. (We have 9 liters of blood in our bodies) I didn't have a blood transfusion though which was nice. I have heard that they hurt! So my planned normal c-section went to emergency but everyone was calm and did a great job! I kept on being sick after the surgery was done. My doctor told Lim that we would have to have a serious talk when I am more awake and aware. I was so out of it. Besides getting sick my blood pressure dropped alot and then I had the cold sweats, I was completely drenched! Not a good feeling let me tell you! My temp dropped so bad that they had to put a bear hug blanket on me. That is a blanket that is attached to this machine and it blows hot air on you! It goes from your feet all the way up to your neck! You feel very closed in! They did this because my temp wasn't even reading on the thermometer. I finally stopped getting sick! Yay!!! My doctor came by and gave me some broth and jello and ice chips! ( it is great personally knowing your doctor!) Anyway I was so starved and weak from everything that happened earlier that day that I was drinking the broth so quickly that I ended up getting sick again but it didn't hurt because I wasn't dry heaving! Thank goodness!!! After that, that is all she wrote about me being sick! Yay. Anyway Lim and our good friend Max came by and gave me a blessing a little before this, which is why I stopped getting sick and things started to change around for the better! My nurses were worried about me and one of my nurses thought of me all night even when she was off. She came in the next day for her shift, saw me and was so re leaved to see me doing so well. I am so grateful to have my husband hold the priesthood. At around 11pm that night I felt good. I was able to hold a conversation. At four in the morning I was able to get up and walk around! Yay!!! I took a much needed shower and felt like a person again!!! Happy Day!!! My doctor came in the next day and all three of us had a talk. My Mom was out in the waiting room with the boys. She told us how very risky it will be if I become pregnant again because my uterus is stretched so thin they are afraid that my placenta might go through my uterus and attach itself to either my bladder or intestines. Since she is a member she understands the power of prayer. She told us to make this a matter of prayer and fasting. We ask that you keep us in your prayers and in your fasting this coming up fast Sunday. We are so grateful for all of your prayers in our behalf. Life is good : )
